Our client is one of the leading financial services firms in the Middle East region. For over 30 years it has delivered excellence in treasury services, loan syndiaction, equity and debt underwriting, financial advisory, asset management and brokerage across a range of asset classes, industries and geographies and has deservedly earned a reputation for professionalism, integrity, innovation and market knowledge.

Objective

PRPi Consulting was asked to advise on appropriate compensation and benefits in the Middle East financial sector.

Client's situation

Our client wanted to build its presence in investment banking and needed to review its compensation offering to enable it to recruit high calibre people from international financial markets.  It also had some legacy benefits that were thought to be inappropriate and needed to be removed.

Solution

Our strategic input included:

• Advising on salaries, benefits and bonus levels
• Benchmarking all rolesto up-to-date regional market data
  
• Advising on migration strategy including the buy-out of historical benefits

This involved:

• Agreeing future compensation funding levels with the Board and gaining agreement to fundamental change
  
• Resolving many historical anomalies based on an individual basis
  
• Advising on the introduction of a long-term incentive plan
  
• Introducing a transparent communication strategy involving compensation statements
• Migrating staff from one compensation model to another
